Great insight at recent PLG on ESG – UK Modern Industrial Strategy

It is always an education attending the The Policy Liaison Group on ESG roundtable sessions. Mondays session focusing on the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy was no exception.

It was fascinating to hear expert insight from Chi Onwurah MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West, Esin Serin, Policy Fellow at Grantham Research Institute ob Climate Change and Environment, Dan Marks, Research Fellow in Energy Security at RUSI and Martin M. Innovation Lead at Innovate UK.

The session focused on the strategies limited focus on sustainability and role of innovation in driving both sustainability and economic growth. This has to be underpinned by consistency and long term cross parliamentary support. It needs to consider key sector pathways and be cognisant of risks around supply and current global pressures. One clear takeaway is an essential need for cross sector, political and geographic collaboration to accelerate progress towards net zero.
