CSR-A speak at Healthbuild 2026

It was an amazing day at the Healthbuild 2026 Affinity Event held at the Royal Automobile Club. I had a wonderful opportunity to speak on how Healthcare must now be seen as vital national infrastructure. This supports health, resilience, sustainability, and stronger communities. And how The Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Social Impact Report shows how this can be put into practice. This is through climate action, social value, workforce development, local partnerships, and responsible use of resources.

There is no doubt that for future NHS estates, the challenge is to design hospitals that are low-carbon, digitally enabled, operationally resilient, and socially valuable from the outset. It was also an absolute privilege to share the podium with Wayne DALEY. He demonstrated that climate-smart healthcare is not an add-on, but a core responsibility — helping build healthier, more resilient communities for generations to come. This was especially impactful on a day that broke the UK temperature levels for June.

It was incredibly insightful to hear contributions from fellow speakers, Baroness Manzila Uddin, Joao Pinto, Paul Johnson, Sam Oliver and Wayne Daley.
